Driver shot, killed in ambush after red-light district outing
A HABAL-HABAL driver died while his companion was injured in what appeared=
to be a vigilante-style attack in Cebu City over the weekend.=20
The fatality was identified as Armand B. Panit, 20. Injured was Dandy A.
Pador, 19. Both are from Barangay Tabunan, Cebu City.=20
The shooting happened less than eight hours after a robbery suspect was
gunned down by two motorcycle-riding men at corner Don Gil Garcia St. and
M. Velez St.=20
Homicide Section Chief Mario Monilar said the shooting occurred at 1:20
a.m. at the corner of D. Jakosalem St. and J.C. Zamora St. in Parian
shortly after the victims left the red-light district of Barangay Kamagaya=

Monilar said that before the shooting, Panit and Pador went to the wake of=
a friend in Mactan Island.=20
On their way back to Cebu City, the two men reportedly dropped by
Kamagayan to hire commercial sex workers.=20
Monilar said they are yet to determine what really happened when the two
were in Kamagayan. But it was reported that the two weren=92t able to take=
any girl with them.=20
Panit and Pador left Kamagayan on a red Honda XRM motorcycle (XI 7721).=20
While they were in the Parian area, two men on another motorcycle waylaid
them. One of the men fired at Panit and Pador.=20
Panit was hit in the head and died on the spot. Pador was hit in the neck.=
He was taken to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, while Panit=92s bod=
y
was taken to the Cebu Rolling Hills.=20
Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operations 7 recovered three empty
shells for .45 pistol.=20
Monilar said Panit and Pador had no criminal records.=20
He said investigators will wait for Pador to recuperate before asking him
