Alberta 3,000,000 people which makes it about $50,000 per person of the
total population.

Charanta 5,300,000 people which makes it about $37,735 per person of
total
population.

That assumes your numbers are right and yours might be, Charanta is
75.4%
as productive as Albertans on a per capita basis. And we get penalized
for good productivity, in balance of transfers. Less people on welfare
here too. Less people on the lamb. It helps a lot.

For what federal outgoing transfers above fair cost; Albertans, every
person including children in the oven could get a $5300 cheque each and
every year for what it costs Alberta to stay in confederation.

So I guess a bunch of western hicks can say Charanta is not as
productive.

No dispute there, per capita GDP in Alberta exceeds that of Toronto.

and Ontario, and every other province.

I have
no doubt that extracting the back goo has been quite lucrative for the
province. The difference is resource extraction economies are not
sustainable over the long term. Eventually Alberta's bubble will burst,
while Toronto's economy won't even notice.

That black goo is estimated to have at least 100 years of life left.
Wow, in a century maybe everybody else can pay our way!

And what happens if they develop an large scale energy source in say 50
years that runs on salt water and can heat homes, power automobiles,
transports and heavy machinery. All that black goo we could have got $60
for is now mothers natures oil spill not worth the cost to clean up.

Actually, 100 year of life left at current prices. There is hydrocarbons
almost everywhere. The question is that of economics, the higher the prices
goes, the more there is that is economical to develop.

Sort of like labor costs, there is never was a "shortage", there is always a
"shortage of pay to attract the labour" or "there is a shortage of people
willing to work for $10/hr when they can get $15/hr else where".

The bubble will not burst any time soon from market conditions. Perhaps
from NEP II which is a self induced one. Which is why Alberta should leave
confederation and settle the resources question once and for all.

Salut Francophones,

Zut!

What if nobody bought gas at Esso?
No, that would not lower prices right away but it would send a
message. The reason the gouge us is because it is very hard to
organize people at large. Make Esso suffer - maybe they'll lower the
prices and then the others may follow. Let's show them we can get
organized

good idea. Someone mentioned Exxon. There are no Exxon stations in
Canada. I realize the market in Canada is a pittance compared to the
States, but it gives us a chance to join in.

How do we get this going? Cross-post?? Blogs??

Ideas??

OK people we got something going here. Today there was a report that
concluded that we were being (and have been) charged about 28 cents more
than we should pay. That, they said represents 1 million A DAY for the
oil companies!

Let's not buy at Esso. Crosspost. Email to your friends. Blog. Email the
TV stations, radios, newspapers. Let's make this for an undeterminate
length of time. Let's see what happens. Do not get distracted by anybody
that tells you otherwise. I am sure if this starts to work there'll be a
lot of (mis)information trying to muddy the waters and give reasons as
to why this does not work. Discuss it here. Let your friends know.
