Don't waste your time. The only people who are losing money are those who
have panicked and sold well before the 2011 deadline for the tax change. If
you invested wisely in quality companies, the fallout will be minimal in the
long term.
This petition won't work anyway.

Quote: This government action has been a terrible betrayal which will ruin
many people's retirement.
Support them! sign the petition! Harper broke his word and caused a
great deal of financial
damage to Canadian investors.
The petition link is:
http://www.petitiononline.com/DC103/petition.html
The petition is:
To: Government of Canada
Mr. Harper you Lied to Canadian citizens when you
promised not to tax trusts. The tax on trusts announced
by your Minister of Finance on October 31 2006, has resulted
in the loss of billions of dollars of ordinary Canadians'
savings and jeopardized the income and well being of retirees.
We demand the Minister of Finance, immediately commence a study
to develop a plan that would see Canadian investors compensated
for this incompetent government action. Compensations could include
grandfathering of existing trusts, additional capital loss deduction
for funds lost from RRSPs and any other tax adjustments possible to
assist retirees and Canadians recover their losses.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned

I actually used to live there in the 60's and 70's.
It is very noticeably gone DOWN HILL. Toronto has seen better days. Too
much socialism and not enough workers. Union mentality all over. Have been
there off and on over the years, visiting the old neighbourhood for
nostalgic reasons. Now it is better called the "hood".
The culture seems to have deteriorated moral values, over crowding, too many
on government dole yet the education system seems to produce greedy poorly
educated lazy socialists that view the government as a god or something.
Likely has to do with the insane amount of taxes and fees.
Of all the Canadian cities I have lived, I would never return there to live. |

He headed to Toronto once, but turned back for fear of falling off the edge

Horton's, they live in xenophobic fear of the world inside their protected

Metropolitan Toronto has a $200 billion dollar economy. Alberta has a $150
billion dollar economy. I guess that's something to be proud of, the entire
province of Alberta is 3/4 as productive as the "socialist" city of Toronto. |

Choke this:
Alberta 3,000,000 people which makes it about $50,000 per person of the
total population.
Charanta 5,300,000 people which makes it about $37,735 per person of total
population.
That assumes your numbers are right and yours might be, Charanta is 75.4% as
productive as Albertans on a per capita basis. And we get penalized for
good productivity, in balance of transfers. Less people on welfare here
too. Less people on the lamb. It helps a lot.
For what federal outgoing transfers above fair cost; Albertans, every person
including children in the oven could get a $5300 cheque each and every year
for what it costs Alberta to stay in confederation.
So I guess a bunch of western hicks can say Charanta is not as productive. |

No dispute there, per capita GDP in Alberta exceeds that of Toronto. I have
no doubt that extracting the back goo has been quite lucrative for the
province. The difference is resource extraction economies are not
sustainable over the long term. Eventually Alberta's bubble will burst,
while Toronto's economy won't even notice. |

That's not Toronto - that's the GTO. Travel oot there sometime and ask
some of those farmers if they live in Toronto.
