Me and my fiance are considering coming to Las Vegas to get married. Can
any one recommend some decent places to stay that won't "break the bank"
as I also have 3 kids to pay for! Coming from the UK where the travel
agents here seem to charge $75 for a $30 room... Any tips would be
appreciated!

Yes...
STAY OFF THE STRIP Smile you save some big bucks that way. Look at
www.cheapovegas.com for some really accurate opinions on places to stay.
"Sam's Town" is about 25 minutes from the "Strip" area and a nice place.
"Station Casinos" are nice places too.Palace Station is not far from the
strip and a "OK" deal.The tower rooms are much nicer than the garden rooms.
DO NOT go to "Circus-Circus" unless you love crowds, smoke, millions of
unchecked kids and noisy crappy rooms.
DO tell the casino your are coming here to get married! They sometimes have
special packages for newlyweds.
You will need to get your wedding license in downtown vegas.You can get
married by the justice of the peace or at any of the "Wedding chapels"
around town, but you need the state issued license BEFORE they will do the
ceramony. Prices are not set in concrete, you can get deals as they are in
direct competition with each other. I suggest you call the wedding license
bureau BEFORE you get here to make sure you have all papers you need!!!

Thanks Fred, that is some good info!

I have visited Vegas once before, about 4 years ago - loved the place.
But coming with kids, guess it'll be a completely different experience!
Any hotels cater for kids so parents can have an evening out? I know
it's a longshot, but can't seem to find any decent info online.

Try Travelaxe.com it will give you rates on several hotels through several
companies like hotel.com, orbitz etc

also be advised many hotels have their rates on a calendar posted 3 months
in advance, Sahara, Samstown, Tropicana, palace station may have some
bargain rates, or consider downtown for cheaper rates...

Consider spending some days in Laughlin you can find rates 35 or under,
maybe under 24 bucks, again look at individual hotels for a calendat of
rates, Fri and Sat are going to cost more.

Yes, A few have "Kidsquest" in the facility. I dont know the age
restrictions, but ask if they have something like that.
Las Vegas was trying to be "Family Friendly" but that didnt work out. Very
little for kids to do here.
Give this some thought....... (dont explode quickly)

Since this *IS* your wedding,something you will never forget good or
bad....make it "Epic".
This might be a good time to have grandma/grandpa watch the kids while you
are in Vegas. Save some airfare and allow you and the new misses to fully
enjoy all Vegas has to offer. Kids usually will not even remember the trip
here. They are not allowed on the casino floor, except to pass thru to rooms
and eateries. Here are some ideas....
Take in some good shows while here.
Stroll the Las Vegas strip and visit other properties.
Take a helicopter flight, city or grand canyon...
If you gamble, try the slots and tables OFF THE STRIP. You will do much
better that way.
Do the things you can't with kids around ( it IS your wedding nite, make
like rabbits in Vegas).
Kids DO need the separation from parents, it's good training for when they
go to school.If YOU have the seperation anxiety problem, set up a laptop and
desktop machine with cameras and tuck them in each night remotely, it works
pretty well. Bring the kids "goodies" from Las Vegas...

Food for thought, make it a good time for you and the new Misses. This is
your time and very special.Dont compromise it.
You can drink/smoke..drink and smoke, be adults. Promise the kids you will
take them to Disneyworld on the next trip.

Don't book hotel rooms from the UK travel agents.

Try Alpharooms.com , Find-rooms.com or such like, these offer prices lower
than going direct.

Go through QuidCo and earn some cashback:
http://www.quidco.com/travel/accommodation

See what the hotels offer if you contact them direct or find discountes in
the US who often bulk buy rooms.

My brother gave a deposit for Mandalay Bay...a word of advise...be
careful! what happened is the Mandalay is undergoing construction on
one of the restaurants where their reception was to take
place...anyway Mandalay Bay...gave them their deposit back on the
reception portion but did not give them their deposit they put down
for the actual ceremony...since Mandalay stated they could have chosen
their reception at a different location...yeah aaahh huh...for more
money..so they lost their deposit..something like $250 or $275...so
they went with a whole different location off the strip...there are
many choices of chapels to choose from...just google wedding chapels
in vegas...many many choices and options...for every budget

off the strip for sure. Terrible's Hotel & Casino is only about 2
miles off the strip, but it is a nice, clean, relatively inexpensive
place to stay. Further off the strip, I like Green Valley Ranch, but
I think Terrible's will be less expensive and more central. Good
