I was in Vietnam in 1966. My human body was part of the beginning of the
escalation that more ridiculously escalated in the next year. Iraq isn't
Vietnam, tactically because the terrain is not a jungle but more like the
terrain where Rommel gained his fame as the desert fox, succeeding with his
militarism at the expense of the people needing him.
Now a difference larger is in our congress. For Vietnam, congress protested
Johnson's escalation. Against Iraq, congress is protesting Bush's
de-escalation.
I, for one, consider Dr. Rice a hero. |

Her coordinating power will simply be sidestepped by a Defense
Department and intelligence services riddled with conflicts of
interest, financial and ideological. One could hope otherwise.
The terrain doesn't matter: the Americans there have neither the
numbers, the equipment, nor the training to accomplish what they've
been tasked with doing, whose definition keeps changing.
Sound familiar? It's another silent conspiracy which is betraying the
American military on behalf of the political interests of a
disconnected, self-serving elite. And it's the commander-in-chief,
President G.W.Bush -him, and only him- who is accountable.
He gave the go-order. If he had ever really meant the things he's
saying now, he would have called for activating the draft before
invading. He heard that advice from the joint chiefs and others, I'm
sure. He chose, and he chose wrongly, as it turns out.
If an invasion force of a million had been slowly assembled -or if the
European allies could have been drawn in again- the present location
of Saddamned Hussein (or his body) would likely be certain.
Not one American had to die.

This reply shows the problem, especially because this newsgroup is supposed
to be for psychology, which one might hope to mean mental health.
The phrase "silent conspiracy" raises the question of whether the person
using it is paranoid delusional. If the conspiracy is silent, how does this
poor Earth-person hear it?
Productive psychology requires being down to earth, where one can see
terrain as matter, matter of fact. Rachelle's use of the word "million"
suggests the hyperbole of delusions of grandeur.
