What are the wonders of future science?

There are no wonders in science or the universe that survive beyond the
joys of the dinner table. Wonderment is nature's way of momentarily
getting us familiar with things we might need. Things we can use, eat
and build with. It ends there. Every wonder we vainly hope for is
already realised in what we already have.

Face it. Like the tribesmen who visit a modern city, what we find
wondrous at one-o-clock we will get tired of by two-o-clock and burn
down by three-o-clock. Only bored children, their clown-teachers, and
their indoctrinated cult, try to extend the domain of the momentary
feeling of wonderment into the furthest reaches of the future.

Teaching children "Wonderment" of science is like forcing them to watch
a slushy love movie, over and over. People ARE NOT interested in this
wonderment. They want to put food on their tables. That's what interests
them. They don't want this continual, syrupy, platitudinous yarn of
"great things to come". That's why the Matrix is boring. It's characters
are all the same - Geek the Clown, premised on the strident yarn of
Wonderment.

Wonderment is not a pursuit. So put the toys away and sit down to eat.
Turn your back on the clown-teachers of Wonderment.

And join me O sisters and brothers in a new socialist consciousness. Put
aside wonderment and empty fascinations, their mental baubles, their
shining, empty promises that constitute the Great Trivia. Cage this
"wonderment" in the moment that belongs to it, and we shall ask these
clowns to leave.
