My brother is a Jehovah's Witness and we were having a conversation about
the Noah's flood and he startled me by saying that before the flood Mt.
Everest was flat. Of course he has no evidence for this and I don't even
think his church believes this as well but it did throw me for a bit of a
loop as what evidence is there that that claim is not true. I thought of two
things:
1. Oldest dated writing appears to have come from the Indus valley circa
3500 BC which was before the supposed flood.
2. If his claim of the Himilaya's catastrophism based birth is
true...wouldn't there be some evidence of that along the tectonic plate
borders (the sea floor would have evidence of being young etc).
Any ideas or contributions to this? I am asking for commentary not
discounting "the world wide flood" hypothesis (there is plenty) but for
evidence that would confirm or counter his claims of Mt. Everest and the
Himilayas being much smaller than they are today. Any ideas? Thanks. |
