This primeval amphibian is the missing link between salamanders and
frogs!! And these were the guys you didn't want to mess with back in
the day--- vertebrate life was "on land" for the first time, these
were the bosses of the age!
And, just like every other species, these old newts were aquatic! for
most of their lives! And they were hairless, and had sub-cutaneous
fat, and probably vestigial lungs to use instead of those "old-
fashioned gills" as used by Marc's mermen.
So be aware, since 290 mya is alot earlier than "the C/H split at
~64my" ; there is plenty of aquaticism to go around!! |
