Does anybody know if Garmin is planning on putting out a new version of
City Navigator North America NT in the near future? There's been a City
Navigator NT 2009 Update for some time, but it looks like it's only for
updating pre-programmed cards. I want a new City Navigator for my 60CSx,
but will wait a bit if a new version is coming out very soon.

The cycle is normally around 12 months although CN NA NT 2009 came out a bit

early. I'd be very surprised if we saw 2010 before March or April 2009.

The update disk contain the full version of CN NT 2009. Look in the
MSI folder. You need to have a previous version of any city navigator
already installed.

This was extracted from a 'dual mode' dvd (Mac/Windows) and is for
Windows only.

Although an update, by running 'CNNANT2009Update_ENU.msi'
this will install without having a previous version on your computer.

Thanks, but I don't use stolen software.

Thanks for all the responses. Since I'm getting conflicting information,
I called Garmin for the straight story. Here's what I was told:

1. The City Navigator North America NT 2009 Update will only update NT.
I have plain City Navigator (v. 6), not NT, so I can't use it.
2. Garmin says they "hope" the non-update City Navigator NT 2009 will be
available by the end of the month. I'd read elsewhere that they had
planned to release it in May. So who knows when it'll actually be available.
3. If I purchase the full City Navigator NT 2008 now, I'll get a free
upgrade when the 2009 version is available. However, Garmin is sold out
of the 2008 NT, and they think most retailers are, too, in anticipation
of the new version.

I really want NT because I'm trying to put a lot of street and topo maps
into my 60CSx, and I'm being limited by the total number of maps rather
than the size. So I'll be looking for somebody who still has a copy of
NT 2008 to sell, since I'll be needing it very soon.

Thanks again.

It's not stolen if you buy or are entilted to download the update.

If you buy a nuvi for example, garmin will send you the mapsource dvd
of what's in your nuvi. It used to be just for the asking, they might
charge for postage now, not sure.

Wow, you really are trying to load a lot of map segments! The 60CSx
has a limit of over 2000 segments, so you are being ambitios.

One suggestion: use more than one memory card. micro-sd cards are
typically around $10 for 2G. You can load massive amounts on a 2G
card, although with Topo maps, the map limit is usually the limiting
factor. BTW, CN NA v2009 NT is out now and is about 40% smaller than
previous non-NT versions. It will all fit in a 1G card.
