Dear Newsgroup:

There are individuals in variety of newsgroups posting articles under
unknown names.

These are individuals like: gam23, don, James, YAM, etc.

I believe general public should completely ignore their postings.

Every one posting here should have their first and last name at least
once written, as well as from what institution or city or state they
are sending their letters.

Those unnamed individuals might be directed by one person (s) to write
on behalf of them in variety of situations for public control of the
media in broad sense.

They might be also directed to ridicule or insult the writers here.

This is a FIRST STEP, to ignore these unknown persons for better
atmosphere of the newsgroup and honest scientific debate.

From now on I will not open the postings of those without proper names
and certainly will not respond to them.

I hope you do the same, until they properly identify themselves in
complete family name.

I don't list personal information because I don't want:
1. To receive Spam
2. Get my identity stolen.

Oh, but of course you are not going to open this. Sorry.

So you prefer a comment with a fake name and no content to one with

content and a screen name?
Do you do research the same way?

Dear Newsgroup:

I believe Newsgroups should not allow unknown names to be used in the
media, for greater public trust in our scientific debates.

I believe the administrators of newsgroups should request some
information about the writers upon registration.

They can provide secure sites for collecting the information, such as
address, SSN, education, etc.

It is appropriate to request about professional background of writers.

What I mean, is that these information are confidential, only the
users name such as John Doe will be surfaced on the postings.

This is essential for the health of these debates.

For example posters using the names like m8C27, Cindy, Tom, etc.

might use obscenity or offensive words without any further personal
consequences.

We are not dealing with ghosts, we are dealing with peoples.

Some of them actually might be one person.

Thus the newsgroups should make sure that a unique person is using the
media.

I personally do not respond (now) to short or unknown form or number
names.

I may sometimes use M.Basti for my name, but upon registration I wrote
Mehran Basti and appears in some newsgroups. It is a unique name.
