Colloidal silica sols like Ludox (or Klebosol from Clariant or

are not stable against aggregation when
dried. BTW: SiO2 is not a semi-conductor.

Do a search on Science direct or something for semiconductor
particles. Matijevic pretty much rules on this subject of nano
partiles. What are you after? CdS particles are pretty common, do you
want different sizes and shapes? If so, your getting deep into colloid
science. I would recommend you read something by Matijevic before
trying too much.
An example i found with a quick search was: A. Kasuya et al., Colloids
and surfaces A, Vol. 202, 2002, p.291
They make II-VI semiconductors using emulsion and micelisation
processes. Niot size control but the techniques could certainly be
improved upon!
