Just a rerun of the solar barbecue and machanical mathematician stuff. You
can find more on utube. Basically the mathematician allows you to construct
an off the centre section of a parabolic dish. Which in turn allows you to
make a tracking solar accumulator.
I have just made the mould for a tracking solar accumulator.
http://www.appropedia.org/Image:Cobmould.JPG shows the mould (almost
complete) and the mathematician (a swinging arm with string attached that
allows you to construct the mould to be parabolic. and a wheelbarrow of cob
for the mould.
Next stage is to let it dry a bit and make a cardboard or plastic dish in
the mould. Then kitchen foil will be stuck on.
Last year I made a similar mould and attached foil directly to the wet cob.
Perhaps a few experimenters are out there?
It is a help project for poor people in sunny climates.
Please contribute by trying it for yourselves.
I no longer bother with full parabolic dishes because it is too hard to
reach the centre. With a segment of a dish, it is possible to have a table
for your food and to protect you from stray rays.
It is also possible to keep the food in the one place all day while the dish
shines heat on it when it tracks the sun.
