Hello,
I am searching for thin (2mm to 3mm) plastic or metal nuts (similar to
the type used on chassis mounted potentiometers and switches) to be used
as lock nuts or jam nuts for webcam lenses with plastic M12-0.5 thread.
I have been searching but not coming up with the fine thread for M12 nuts.
Any suggestions on where to get these?

Might be worth trying here - if nothing else they can sell you a tap to make your own..!

For all things metric:

If they don't have it, it doesn't exist.

Hello P. Danek,
Thanx for the lead. The finest pitch I found for M12 at
www.metricscrew-toolco.com is 1.0mm.
Gotta keep looking. I sure don't want to have just a dozen of these
custom made.

How about getting some cheap lensholders and cut them down to make locknuts? |

Try giving them a call since they might have them anyway. They are a
smallish company and the phone is typically the best way to deal with
them.
You can also try a company called Small Parts that makes miniature
everything. www.smallparts.com I can't remember if they do metric though.
