Hi all.

I'm looking for help filling in missing caption text in "The Secret
Museum of Mankind":

Volume 2 (Africa), page 9, four small photos, subject matter personal
decoration, top-left photo caption "This black beauty has decorated
herself to attract her chief's favour...".

My copy has some missing text for the BOTTOM LEFT photo, and I am
hoping someone can check their copy and see if it might be complete in
theirs.

Mine reads "By her style of hairdressing, with bladed hairpin of
ivory, and simple fibre necklace, [this?] girl with ivory nose-plug
shows she is in [????]ess. Her scar markings are few and simple"

The missing word before before "girl" is probably "this", but the word
ending "ess" is not obvious to me. Judging by the size of the blank
space, 4 letters are missing.

Can anyone help fill this in? If it was "she is AN ----ess" it would
make more sense, but it reads "she is IN ----ess"

I am scanning/transcribing/indexing this book.

Thanks!
