Dear Foresight members and friends:

Thanks to a recent substantial donation, Foresight Institute is
expanding. We will be bringing on a new President, freeing up my
time to write the new book that many members have been
requesting. Below is a message from our executive search firm -
we hope you'll take the time to recommend excellent candidates.
Please contact them directly with your suggestions.

As always, we appreciate all your support for Foresight's work.

Christine Peterson

To the Foresight Community:

Phillips Oppenheim is assisting the Foresight Institute, the
foremost independent nanotechnology think-tank, in a search
for an outstanding President. The new President will lead the
organization as it presses for rapid, responsible development
and deployment of nanotechnology to benefit humanity. As
part of the search process, we are reaching out to the
community for suggestions and referrals.

The President will lead and manage the Foresight Institute, and
take responsibility for promoting rapid and responsible
deployment of nanotechnology. Duties and tasks include all
aspects of organizing outreach to groups and individuals that
are interested in nanotechnology, engineering, public policy
and business issues. The President will be the chief
spokesperson, fund raiser and strategist for Foresight, and will
coordinate the efforts of a small and dedicated staff, several of
whom have significant reputations in the field. The ability to
develop collaborative relationships with business, government,
academic, environmental, financial and public policy
constituencies is essential, as is an entrepreneurial spirit in
driving the advance toward rapid and responsible deployment
of beneficial nanotechnologies.

Founded in 1986, the Foresight Institute was the first
independent organization to champion development of
beneficial nanotechnologies, and the Institute has been a
platform for thought leadership on both technical and public
policy nanotechnology issues. As a fully independent nonprofit
organization, the Institute holds a unique position in the
nanotechnology community at the intersection of industry
government, scientific research, medical technology, public
policy and venture capital interests. Indeed, independence,
open dialogue and rigor are the hallmarks of Foresight's work
in the field. By openly discussing and seriously dealing with
legitimate public policy issues related to nanotechnology,
Foresight's objective is to advance nanotechnology toward
practical applications that help humanity.

The Foresight Institute supports advances in the field through
publications, events, press and media relations, public policy
work and seminars, and also administers the two most
prestigious prizes of the nanotechnology community, The
Foresight Institute Feynman Prize and the Feynman Grand
Prize which are awarded for theoretical, experimental and
practical advances in molecular nanotechnology. The current
acting President, Christine Peterson, will take the role of Vice
President for Public Policy and both she and Ralph Merkle,
Vice President for Technology Assessment, will assist the new
President in advancing the Institute.

Please contact me for a full position description or background
on our firm. Your suggestions and nominations are most
welcome.

Please also feel free to call me any time at need. We are
always happy to assist our friends and colleagues in the
nonprofit community.

Best regards,
Mark
