As for the lasers they cite...well...might be great...might not.

I don't see them as being vital, but they are good for pointing things
out to newbies, and the bogeymen and monsters that inevitably haunt dark
sites might think they're a death ray.

I question wicked laser's claims for their higher power models. I'd
like to see one in action.
But apparently, the ones with high quality current and voltage
regulation seem to last longer and perform better. |

Hi Rich:
We don't have one of their Big Dogs--I'm not interested in poppin'
balloons--but their bottom of the line model definitely outperforms
similar units--including one I have. Like night and day, actually.

Naw...I don't think they are vital for most amateurs amateurs. But if
you're involved in public outreach or astronomy education...yes, they
are vital then. ;-)
