I spent about an hour trying to use my Hypertherm MAX100 cutter. I
used "under 40A" consumables. I tried cutting 10 gauge metal, 1/8,
3/16, and 1/4" metal. This cutter goes through metal better than a
knife through butter, it is amazing. I made a lot of little straight
and curved pieces from junk steel.

My last exercise was to make a mounting plate for my winch, to be
placed on the trailer. (The winch is a $19.99 winch from Harbor
Freight, which, I think, should serve me just fine)

I had to make a rectangular 3/16" plate, with three holes for 1/2"
bolts. It worked out just fine (including making holes). Basically the
cuts are slightly worse than what one could accomplish with a
reciprocating saw.

I found out that, for the most part, I do not need my gizmo with
rollers. I also found out that using a 100A shield for drag cutting
with under 40 consumables, also does not work -- I need to maintain
distance. I have quite a bit of leeway as far as distance is
concerned.

I also found out that it is a good idea to wear a leather hat, and
also it is a good idea not to step on red hot pieces of metal with
shoes with plastic soles. (no bodily injury, but I had to extricate
metal pieces that were firmly embedded in the soles)

Sigh..I thought you knew better than that.

Gunner, who has put out more than one hat fire....sigh....
Political Correctness

A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical liberal minority and
rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media,
which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible
to pick up a turd by the clean end.
