I have rapidly progressing cataracts. Vision correction has progressed
from -7 diopters to -18 diopters in just over a year, so it is about
time to have the cataract surgery.
I am concerned about capsule tear, as my father had a retinal
detachment following a capsule tear during his cataract surgery.
Can anyone tell me what the achievable rates of capsule tear are for
the best surgeons? I've had one surgeon tell me that he had a 0.5%
chance of capsule tear, and another surgeon tell me that he had 2.0%
rate of capsule tear. 2.0 % sounds high to me, and I'm not sure that I
find that risk acceptable.
Any recommendations for surgeons in the southwest region?
Thanks,
Chad |
