There are several things you can do to control your heartburn or at
least try to control the acidic fumes in your stomach from re-fluxing.
There are the drugs, like antacids, H2 Blockers, or PPI's (proton
pump inhibitors) and several other remedies. However all these things
do are mask the symptoms, they do not correct the problem, or you would
have been cured, long ago, and stopped spending money on them.
Chewing gum, stimulates the salivary glands which produce saliva, and
saliva reduces acid by up to 50%. When you reduce the stomach acid, the
pressure against the LES is also reduced, and your heartburn symptoms
aren't as severe. If you are experiencing chest pains, fill your
mouth with saliva and then swallow it. Repeat this three or four times
and the chest pain and discomfort will diminish, because you are
neutralizing the acidic gases present in your esophagus. Try it - It
works!
Drinking some "Kukicha Tea" will help you to burp or belch, which
reduces stomach acid almost immediately. When you burp, the pressure
being exerted on your LES valve is reduced. With lower pressure being
exerted on your "Lower Esophageal Sphincter" you will have less reflux,
which equals less pain and burning discomfort.
Products like antacids which form a coating or layer over the acid in
your stomach try to prevent the reflux of acidic fumes into your
esophagus. But antacids again, only mask the symptoms and don't cure
anything, plus they are not recommended to take for a long time.
Perhaps you have noticed a new antacid on the market that is chewable.
They claim that it is more effective than regular antacids. Of course
it is! The chewing stimulates the salivary glands to produce saliva.
When you swallow the saliva, it neutralizes the acidic fumes that are
in your esophagus and your pain is diminished
