Hello,
A family member who is a non-smoker has a small white spot
in the left side of the tongue. It's a bit swollen and he says it hurts
a bit when swallowing.
Any suggestions on treatment ?
Thank you. |

Tough to say. If it hurts on swallowing, I'm assuming it's pretty far
back. It's likely to be traumatic (accidental bite?) but of course
that's just a guess. Good to have it looked at, just in case.
If it's a bite, some protective like Orabase can be applied which will
make it less uncomfortable when eating. If it's a small fibrous growth
its best to have it removed, because it's just going to be repeatedly
traumatized over time and likely get bigger.
