I am making up some custom tooling for a machining job and have to join
the two metals. I am looking at using a MG 600 series stick rod for
the operation. The one piece of 8620 is heat treated and carborized,
the 4140 is in the annealed normalized condition. I will be preheating
the metals before welding. Does anyone have any better recommendations
on welding this job.

Pray?

Why Stick?

Not my first choice for welding dissimilar metals.
