I've been developing a paper on the phonologic features of a Mirandese
dialect spoken in Sendin. One of the characteristics of this dialect
is that its speakers produce a palatal plosive whenever a velar
plosive is preceded by a stressed high anterior (palatal) vowel. So
now, the voiceless palatal plosive is easy, i can even write it here -
[c] -, but its voiced couterpart (the J) seems impossible to me. I can
go as far as writing the dotless <j> (alt+190), but when it comes to
the superimposed bar/stroke I simple can't manage a wait to write it.
I consulted the shortcuts on the SIL package but I can't manage to
find anything similar. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(It's my first message, by the way. I hope next one isn't this
boring.) |

In the SIL Doulos font, it's at position EF (decimal 239). In a Unicode
font, it should be at position 025F.

If you decide to use Unicode, you should check out our program
IPAScript:

Incidentally, I was surprised to see that in Turkish SAMPA they
decided to transcribe this sound as "gj" rather than J\ (given that
they use "c" for the unvoiced sound). For example they write gj2r"mec
for the verb görmek. See:

It's not actually a barred <j> -- it's an inverted ("turned") <f>.
IPA was invented when typesetters weren't at the mercy of computer
jocks.
