Does anyone know the meaning of the word "wally"?
I came across it recently inan article in which the author (British, I
believe) said if he dressed a certain odd way people would take him to be a
wally. What is a wally?

(I have a feeling I should duck.)

One possible origin is "golli**g", spoonerised then truncated.
