"The methamphetamine trade has thrived in Audubon County [WY] for a number or
reasons. Methamphetamine is easy to cook locally, Sheriff Johnson said, because his
county of 450 square miles has only 10 law enforcement oficers, and one of the drug's
main ingredients — anhydrous ammonia — is an agricultural fertilizer that lies about
in abundant supply in bags on isolated farm fields almost waiting to be stolen."

If they can get anhydrous ammonia in bags .... find out what they are drinking
and buy me a case!!

Maybe it comes in those bag/box combinations that cheap wine comes in.
The taste is about the same.

It must be new convenience packaging.
No more stinging eyes and noses when transfer hoses leak and you can just
spread it around in the field - no more injecting it under the soil or need
for special equipment.

WOW! - I wish they had that stuff when I worked on the farm and at the feed
mill ; - )

This is nothing. I remember a movie about bank heist where the gas
mask-wearing villans gased the poor bank clerks and customers with
chlorine gas before opening the safe. But the nastiest trick was how
the evildoers covered their tracks - upon leaving they set the
building on fire by igniting the chlorine.

Not very nice !
I worked for a private company at one time and the owner's wife was an
author of children's stories and science fiction.
She was going to try her hand at a mystery novel and asked the group in the
lab if we could think of a way to dispose of a body without a trace.
I was amazed the number of sick things a supposed normal human minds can
conjure up.
Worse yet - it was a fun exercise.

Did you ever see Three Days of the Condor?

Actually it is mor complicated than that.First you have to drop two hydrogen from the ammonia with the addition of a hydrocarbon, alcohol or ketone so you have something like NHCH3 or NHCH2 or NHCH.

The hydrogen bonded with the nitrogen then must be bonded to the second C molecule in the primary radical:

-CH2CHCH3
/
NHCH3

This must then be fused to the original structure of the double bonded carbon ring.

Usually the first step is aquiring
a substance like ephedrine and treating it with 20% acetic acid
or phenylacetone and methylamine are reduced.
There are many other processes like
animation or reduction of amino acids.
But the main line is the NHCH component
