Food prices are already so low that among many many countries even the
US Govt gives billions of dollars to farmers so that extra land is not
to be used for planting.

Not the shortage of food but the glut of land and supplies to plant
should be discussed in this group.

If the US was to cancel all the money that has been given to these
farmers, the food particularly the grain prices in the commodity
markets would dip so much that no one else in the world would dare to
plant their soil.

Agricultural products are that cheap nowadays thanks to genetically
modified seeds, hormons and excessive usage of pesticides.
