I was just over there until about 3 weeks ago. I had heard about a
Saudi air strike right before I left, but it was not really
publicized.
I was really not that far from the Saudi/Yemen border, and terrorists
had been caught possibly on the way up to where we were.

But those F-15 air strikes would have been out of the base I was just
flying out of. (Khamis Mushayt)

Thank you for your service. It's nice to hear about the Saudis goin
after terrorists, the news over here doesn't say much about that. I
bet a lot of stuff that is "common knowledge" over there doesn't.

Thank you for doing what you do and stay safe man.

Well I wish I could have said I was there in a military aviator
capacity, but I was not. It was meteorological research program I
was there with, and we actually did use the former ops building of an
RSAF F-15 squadron which had moved to a different base.

The Saudis belatedly went after terrorists with some real effort, which
is why AQ has mostly moved to Yemen from Saudi. That AQ suicide
bomber who almost took out a Saudi royal who was the minister for
security, he had been based in Yemen. And the Saudis think that Iran
is fueling a Shiite rebellion in Yemen too, just to cause trouble and
to destabilize Yemen, thereby causing problems for Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi air force has been bombing 'terrorists' in Yemen for decades now.

Their major crime, in Saudi eyes, seems to be that they're the wrong
kind of Muslims...

The answer given by Englishman Richard Peeke when asked by the Duke of
Medina Sidonia how many Spanish sword and buckler men he could beat
single handed with a quarterstaff.

The Saudis have been bombing Shiites  in Yemen since they were operating
English Electric Lightnings,  which was about 1980...

They've just found a new hook to hang it on.
