"How dare they question my faith!"

November 6 2009

Barack Obama will not tolerate a scientist who dares question his faith:

Last month, President Obama gave a somewhat chilling, if somewhat ignored,
speech on climate change at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He stated that any scientific debate about the magnitude of global warming
is unscrupulous, decrying "those who . . . make cynical claims that
contradict the overwhelming scientific evidence when it comes to climate
change, whose only purpose is to defeat or delay the change that we know is
necessary."

Then, the president talked tough, saying, "We'll just have to deal with
those people," language familiar to anyone who knows the vagaries of Chicago
politics.

Galileo knew Obama's type well.

"It is a remarkable fact that despite the worldwide expenditure of perhaps
US$50 billion since 1990, and the efforts of tens of thousands of scientists
worldwide, no human climate signal has yet been detected that is distinct
from natural variation."

What would Mr. Carter think of the following:

http://www.koshland-science-museum.org/exhibitgcc/historical06.jsp

In both graphs, the red line represents actual data collected.
The orange line in each graph represents two different climate models:
one factoring in human influence, one not.

Two notes:
1. The two models predict different temperates. This seems to be a
"climate signal" that is distinct from natural variation.
2. It is the model that incorporates human influence that most closely
matches actual data.
