What is the name of a linear operator (in an infinite dimensional Banach space) whose spectral radius is strictly less than 1?
If none exist, what would be a good name? |

For matrices, the established name is "a convergent matrix". Certainly a[/quote]
person familiar with this term would understand "a convergent operator".
A clumsy but still acceptable term would be "a strict asymptotic
contraction".
