Hi!

Im building a light application and need a rubber/silicone pad type
material that is highly reflective. Ive been searching and searching
on google but i cant seem to come across the right material.

The pad doesnt have to be of rubber or silicone, just something that
is flexible and foldable, something like this product (but reflective
of course)

http://www.meijer.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=135010&CAWELAID=372694208

any suggestions much appreciated.

oh, forgot to mention that this application will be exposed to 400 deg
F and thus the link to an oven silicone pad above.

Missed the bit about 400F. Forget tape. You can get the glass spheres
separately, e.g. the kind they mix with traffic paint, and they might
survive OK.

Thanks Phil & Mark,

I'd seen the beads before. The problem with them that my application
requires the angle of inclination be the same as angle of reflection.
Is there some kind of metal spray I can simple spray on that have good
penetration (i.e. stickiness), on say a silicone pad, and doesnt
scrape of all that easily?

What are you actually trying to do here? There's high temperature
aluminum paint if all you want is a shiny surface.

Begins to sound of the quest for unobtanium. Maybe it is time to devise
a different design rather than look for an "amazing" materials solution.

If metal foil or thin sheet wont do, you are in trouble.

I will try the high temperature AL spray. Would it stick on one of
those silicone pads?

I actually came across one material that would be ideal but, im
guessing, will be ridiculously expensive.

It probably will not be as reflective as you want
It probably will not stick to the silicone
It probably will not flex as much as the silicone.

It is possible to metallise plastics with the appropriate surface treatment
but the coating cracks and falls off if flexed.

Shiny=metal. It is quite possible to make metal parts flex, but it is by
design of the shape not in bulk form.

I believe that my topic is useful and I would like to share my
thoughts.
THANK YOU.

WHO IS MUHAMMAD?

Muhammad was born in Makkah in the year 570, at a time when
Christianity was not yet fully established in Europe. Since his father
died before his birth, and his mother shortly afterwards, he was
raised by his uncle from the respected tribe of Quraysh. As he grew
up, he became known for his truthfulness, generosity and sincerity and
was sought after for his ability to arbitrate in disputes. The
historians describe him as calm and contemplative. Muhammad was of a
deeply religious nature, and had long detested the decadence of his
society. It became his habit to contemplate from time to time in the
Cave of Hira near the summit of Jaba al-Nur, the ‘Mountain of Light’
near Makkah.

HOW DID HE BECOME A PROPHET AND A MESSENGER OF GOD?

At the age of 40, while engaged in a meditative retreat,
Muhammad, peace be upon him, received his first revelation from God
through the Angel Gabriel. This revelation, which continued for 23
years, is known as the Quran. As soon as he began to recite the words
he heard from Gabriel, and to preach the truth which God had revealed
to him, he and his small group of followers suffered bitter
persecution which grew so fierce that in the year 622 God gave them
the command to emigrate. This event, the Hijra, ‘migration’, in which
they left Makkah for the city of Madinah some 260 miles to the north,
marks the beginning of the Muslim calendar.

After several years, the Prophet and his followers were able to return
to Makkah, where they forgave their enemies and established Islam
definitively. Before the Prophet died at the age of 63, the greater
part of Arabia was Muslim, and within a century of his death Islam had
spread to Spain in the West and as far East as China.
