Both parties have had internal conflicts, and particularly it was
Vietnam that divided/weakened the Democrats,
while there are numbers of divisive nuances/issues

The Republicans appear today to be in intense "civil war," and this
article discusses the apparently moderate
GOP Governor Crist of Florida running for the U.S. Senate seat being
opposed by a powerful conservative

Newt Gingrinch is reaping what he sowed, and Newt the intellectual
understands the irony better than
anybody

As Shakespeare & the Chinese don't exactly say: Be careful that Newt's
gloriously divisive rhetoric (against, for instance, moderate GOPer
Bob Michel's compromises) doesn't subsequently bite Newt in the butt

Newt will try to bring the factions to unity, because he probably
feels responsible for the superb
trash talking on-going

Unity on what?

If there weren't so many internal contradictions going back to
Reaganism this would have never happened in the first place.

There's a deeper cement to be understood in the concepts of
'established' versus the 'anti-established'.

They'll need to be more than anti-Obama and anti-health care and anti
bad things.

They'll need to be for good things like free speech for high paying
jobs.

Before the internet a hustler like Reagan could hype welfare queens to
piss off working stiffs and then get elected and then screw the
working stiffs out of a middle class future.

That ain't happening with the internet.
