i was wondering if anyone has seen or heard of any n. american
projectile points similar in style to the artifact found at the monte
verde site in chile. the point found in chile is very bi-convex and is
extremely unique. i find it odd that more was not said in the site
monograph regarding the point. i suppose that dillehay lacked the
ability to place the artifact in context so he chose to accentuate the
other evidence of his findings. any info or comments would be welcome

Lets see if I have enough circumstantial evidence here to get this
into court.

First, newbie posts entire body of message in lower case. Now it is
well known that a keyboard could have a sticky key that could result
in all lower case, but since the title is in all caps shows the
pseud's keyboard is working properly. It is also well known that Tedd
has been challenged on another thread about his persistent and
continual use of lower case, so we know Tedd can't use the old stuck
key excuse.

Second, the question that the pseud raised is oddly out of context on
sci-anthro. Not that the question is a bad one, actually it is a very
good one. Too good in fact for this particular list. A detailed
discussion of lithic analysis would be better answered on a list where
the specialists in this type of thing hang out.

Third, the Monte Verde monograph doesn't seem like subject the average
person on the street would be reading, no, more like required reading
in some anthro class. The use of lower case suggests the pseud is not
a professional yet. This post seems more middle of the road----- in
keeping with a student of archaeology that seldom caps and doesn't
know what list to ask a question of this nature, as a pro would.

I'm sure a defense attorney would argue that one of Tedd's enemies is
simply trying to frame him, why wasn't this question cross posted to
the usual lists where they hang out? Well, I guess I'll just let the
judge decide the matter.

As you know, a good hypothesis must predict something. My lower-case
hypothesis predicted that the Albertsons Library copy of Monte Verde
vol 2 should be checked out right now. It is on the shelf, so I will
temporarily rescind my accusation....but just don't leave town.

Think I'm deteriorating huh? My hypothesis also predicts Boise State
will finish at least 14th or 13th in the final polls. Top that.

When a person posts the title and his name in all caps, the psychology
is plain enough, it spells troll.

I would bet that if you went over to Palanth and re-asked the question
properly with correct case, with your full name correctly cased (so as
you don't come off sounding like a 13-year-old troll), I would be
surprised if you didn't get some of that information and insight.

Do a lithic technology search on sci.anthro. Your question is on the
wrong list. The people that can give you a believable answer to your
original question, seldom if ever, hang out here.
They can be found on moderated lists, and trust me, they *never* post
in all lower case on such lists. The moderator of such a list would
simply send your lower case question back or trash can it.

i do appreciate the tip and will check out palanth....

Meanwhile I thought of another idea. Michael Collins (Associate
Director of the Texas Archeological Research Laboratory at the
University of Texas at Austin)
did the lithic studies for your monograph. He is approachable, and
might answer your question. Five bucks says you better use correct
caps if are going to have any chance at all of getting a reply from
him.

Much better, but rest assured, I've been called a lot worse in my day.
