By the way, today's _Candorville_ includes a nice little bit
of lunar landing humor:

(The strip also has a lot of _Star Trek_ jokes.)

There was a similar story in the old DC space comics in the 50s. Aliens
contact earth and announce they have a delegation on the way. The Military
and a great crowd show up for the landing. They are microscopic and land in
a bowl of sourkraut on a hot dog vendor's stand. They communicate they are
being attacked by monsters - microbes living in the sourkraut broth. So the
military and crowd look in vain and can't find them - they're looking for
something our size. They meet their end when the confused General orders a
hot dog and eats them. They're screamin over the communications link we're
being eaten by a giant monster. |
