I gave the book "The Mercury 13" to a lady friend to whom I give books
on women in history. Excluding the note about the new article, the
link is a summary of that book.
We're going to hear about this forever, now. Another disaffected
minority is going to piss all over the game board. |

What's with the claim that only two of the Mercury missions "reached space?"
Even the suborbitals well exceeded the 100km mark.

....The press tends to "simplify" things where the Shepard and Grissom
flights were concerned. They've always tended to "write off" the two
suborbital flights as being "lesser" flights because they didn't go
full orbital. It's bullshit and all us regulars here know it, but that
hasn't stopped the press from making the mistake for damn near 50
years.
