These connectors do seem over complex for their jobs and may well be
engineered to to close a tolerence. Also when you see problems its nearly
always when one connector is mounted and the other is aon acable. One is
forced to suspect that the act of tightening down panel mounted connectors
might slightly deform them enough to make them impossible to mate.
