Quoted from the article:

"Few students or even parents understand how a military contract
works. The length of the first term
of active service is spelled out on the first page of the contract,
and you have to read the small print
to learn that the contract is for a minimum of eight years!"

Furthermore, we all know from recent events that the military does not
hesitate to VIOLATE
such contracts. They have been forcing soldiers to stay in the
military even after their legal
commitment (via the contract) has ended. This renders untrustworthy
anything that military
recruiters say.
