AT&T shuts down their newsgroup service shortly. Any suggestions on another
service that carries this group?

Are there any that *don't*?

I can see it here on Google Groups, Individual.net, and Supernews.
There are many 3rd party NNTP providers out there several are
free and most of the rest of them are reasonably priced. For example
Individual.net (based in a Berlin University) costs 10 euro per year
(around 1 US$ per month). You likely spend more on chewing gum
than that. Smile

I was using motzarella.org. It recently it changed its name to
eternal-september.org

Here are the related server names:

news.eternal-september.org
reader80.eternal-september.org and
reader443.eternal-september.org

They say this:

In order to use the new servers, please make sure you create a new
account/server in your client configuration, download the group list
and subscribe to your favourite groups.

http://www.eternal-september.org/index.php?showpage=recoverp

This step is very important

When creating a new server/account in your client, please don't miss
the "Always authenticate" option most newsreaders require when
connecting to Eternal-September.

They have a website you can check for more info:

Please see
http://www.eternal-september.org/index.php?showpage=faq#Login-No-Auth
for details.

WARNING: Do not change the server name for your current Motzarella
client configuration, as this may cause erratic behaviour of your
newsreader (especially when it's called
Thunderbird/OutlookExpress/Windows Live Mail).

If you encounter any problems or have questions about the transition,
please use the internal group eternal-september.support, which can be
accessed without authentication.

Comcast dumped newsgroups, and I ended up using news.eternal-september.org[/quote:3a3e2df1d9]
So far, so good.

Don't know if they carry this newsgroup, but probably do -

another free source
aioe.org
and probably
teranews.com

The most common pay (cheap) source I have seen people recommend is
giganews.com
also
astraweb.com

giganews has binaries. Free sites probably only text.

Then there is the ever popular (and awful) google-groups.

There have been a lot of discussions of this on other newsgroups which
you could google.
