[quote:aead37df5f]on roosters that have sharp spurs or roosters that get agressive, I will
take an electric or cordless drill or even a dremel tool with a grinding
wheel or stone and grind down the spurs blunt. I also have taken cutting
pliers and cut off the tips of the spurs

the rooster will bleed for a few minutes but after that they are fine

Of course if the rooster still is a pain and is not one of my prime
breeding roosters, I have been known to use a clever and turn the bird
into frozen chicken

It is quite possible to trim a rooster's spurs without making them bleed. I
know that as I did it myself just last week - and I often do it.
If your rooster is aggressive, trimming his spurs will not make him less so,
merely reduce the damage he can do when he tries to slash your legs.
I trimmed two elderly rooster's spurs last week, not because they were
aggressive though, one had spurs that were curling round and might have dug
into his legs and the other had spurs so heavy that he was picking up his
feet very high when he walked.

The freezer is probably a good place for a rooster that attacks it's owner
on a regular basis. You can often cure them of it when they do it the
first time. They have to be knocked off their feet as they would be if they
lost a fight with another rooster. Sometimes that is enough to teach them
better manners.
