2009 Berkeley Nanotechnology Forum
On April 26, hundreds of students, staff, and faculty from premier Bay
Area research universities and laboratories, as well as scientists and
businesspeople from industry will converge at the 6th annual Berkeley
Nanotechnology Forum. The Forum is the premier venue to learn about
the latest in nano research directly from the Bay Area's top research
community, to hear about research and development priorities, and to
discuss some of the social, economic and political implications of
nanotechnology. This year=92s Nano Forum, themed =93Solutions for
Tomorrow,=94 will focus on the real-world solutions that nanotechnology
will bring in the coming years. The event will feature Dr. Don Eigler,
physicist at IBM Almaden Research Center famed for spelling out =93I-B-
M=94 with individual xenon atoms; and Dr. K. Eric Drexler, the =93father
of nanotechnology=94 who coined the term =93grey goo.=94 Additionally, the
Forum presents talks from experts in energy harvesting, healthcare,
nanoelectronics, and business in the nanotechnology sector. As always,
the Berkeley Nanotechnology Forum features a poster session with
researchers from around the Bay Area presenting their cutting-edge
work.
In the last few years, the Berkeley Nanotechnology Forum has had
hundreds of attendees, representing 10 universities, national
laboratories, and research institutions, and has exhibited roughly 50
posters, annually. The Berkeley Nanotechnology Forum is a student-
organized, annual conference held at the Haas School of Business on
the UC Berkeley Campus. Registration is in the Bank of America Forum,
while the main presentations will be held in Anderson Auditorium. The
Berkeley Nanotechnology Club promotes information exchange and
entrepreneurship opportunities for Berkeley students and alumni in the
San Francisco Bay Area. The club supports the ethical invention,
development and implementation of novel nanotechnologies by
facilitating discussion amongst the present and future leaders of the
field.
The Berkeley Nanotechnology Club is sponsored by the Center of
Integrated Nanomechanical Systems (COINS), Berkeley Nanosciences and
Nanoengineering Institute (BNNI), the Molecular Foundry at Lawrence
Berkeley National Laboratory, the Center for Scalable and Integrated
Nanomanufacturing (SINAM), Chevron Molecular Diamond Technologies,
Hitachi, the Berkeley Physics Department, the College of Chemistry,
the UC Berkeley Microfabrication Laboratory, and the College of
Engineering. Special thanks to the Associated Students of the
University of California, the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship, and
Haas School of Business. All events are wheelchair accessible.

This looks to be an interesting event, will there be any kind of
summary of what happened published online (or in this newsgroup) after the
event ?

Hi Steve,
Slides from the keynotes and technical talks will be posted online, as
well as abstracts from the poster session. These materials will be
available on our website http://nanoclub.berkeley.edu shortly after
the event, and I will try to post a message to the newsgroup when they
are available.
Cheers,
Eric
