Hello,
My Data:
I have results at two extents (2.5 and 5 miles) and for each extent I
have 412 (n=412) locations with 12 variables recorded at 3 time
periods. I want to determine if there is a difference amongst extents
as well as time periods. Would a simple T-test or MRPP be the best way
to determine the differences? Is there a preferred way to organize
this data? I have R (I have basic knowledge) and Systat.
2.5
E = 2016 2.5 mi
F = 2001 2.5 mi
G = 1992 2.5 mi
5
L = 2016 5 mi
M = 2001 5 mi
N = 1992 5 mi
Thanks for any suggestions/ideas,
Sally |

Hi Sally, I'm confused by your statement. It could be me and have
nothing to do with the way you worded your design. I respond below...

I've never seen the word "extent" used this way. Extent of what? is
2.5 and 5 miles?
Quote: have 412 (n=412) locations
So your "extents" have 412 locations? Again, I'm lost.
with 12 variables recorded at 3 time
Ok. You have 12 variables at three time peroids. What are these
variables? What are the time periods?
I want to determine if there is a difference amongst extents

You want to know if there is a difference between "extents" on any of
the 12 variables?
You want to know if there is a difference amongst time periods?
Again, I'm just not understanding.
Would a simple T-test or MRPP be the best way

I have no idea which test you should use. Perhaps this is some sort of
engineering project or other type of lingo that I'm not used to. For
me to be able to help you, I'll need you to spell this out a bit more.
Concretely, what exactly are you observing, and what do you want to
know about these observations?
It's getting late. I'm sorry if it's just me. Hopefully others can
help you, but I can't until I learn more.

I think you would need to tell us a lot more about what the study is
about and what you are looking for before anyone can really try to
anwser your questions.
You ask, "Is there a preferred way to organize this data?"
Do you mean how to lay out the data file? If so yes, there probably
is. A bit more information would help

I think that we would need more information about the study and what
questions you are trying to answer before anyone could make useful
suggestions.
You ask "Is there a preferred way to organize this data?"
If you mean for creating the data file, then yes there probably is. |
