I've recently been tested for lyme and other tick borne diseases. I've
been experiencing many symptoms of lyme for the past month to two
months. It started off with a cold/flu and then progressed into muscle
fatigue in the arms, legs, neck and back and joint pain in the knees
and especially my knuckles. Other symptoms I have been having are:
tingling in the arms and hands, eye pain, swollen glands, a cough that
has been lingering since the cold/flu that just won't go away (it's
not consistent but i need to do it once in a while!), headaches,
nausea and wooziness feeling, and sometimes I feel like I need to
catch my balance when walking or standing! Basically, I just don't
feel like myself! It's annoying and I can't deal with it anymore!
Well, I just got my test results back today and my lyme came back
negative (go figure!) but there are traces of antibodies of another
type of tick borne disease! The nurse or whoever she was that called
me to tell me my results said that "at one time I was exposed to this
tick borne disease" hence the antibodies my body must have built up
against it and that's why they are showing. But when or how long ago
doesn't show! So I told her that I still wasn't feeling any better so
the doctor wants to see me again to go over the test results and my
symptoms! Don't you think by now that if it wasn't serious it would
have all gone away? Its been 2 months of hell..why didn't they just
put me on the antibiotics? It seems clear that it could most
definitely be lyme or some other tick borne disease! And I've been
reading all over and been told that most of the time a lyme test will
come back negative even if you have it! Now I'm afraid they are just
going to shrug me off and push me on my way as if nothing is wrong
with me when I KNOW MY BODY and something is definitely NOT RIGHT! I
don't want to risk the chances of having it and not get treated for
it! I need a doctor who KNOWS lyme and is going to take the time to
diagnose me properly and treat me. If anyone knows of any in the New
Haven, CT area and can recommend them to me please email me. Thank
you.
