I have 9 implants, using titanium abutments.

Somewhere, I read that implants should never be cleaned/scaled with steel
tools, but only with plastic tools.

Is this correct and what is the reason? What happens if steel probes are
used?

Thank you

what u have read is obsolutely right.implants should never be cleaned
with metal instruments as they will damage the implant surface and
cause attachment loss of the gums surounding your implants.you have
specialized plastic instruments for cleaning implants.if your have
individual implants for the 9 teeth then you have to floss between
them and i would also suggest you to use intraoral irrigation devices
which r available now for maintainence like waterpik etc.

don't your implants have regular crowns on top of them?
