Hi folks. Our very small chem department at our very small university
just bought a used Corning MP-8S water still. It's in good shape but
we need the manual. We've done a web search and come up with nothing
useful. Apparently Corning sold the product line and the new owners
can't/won't supply a manual. Can anyone give us a lead on finding the
manual? If you have one, we'd gladly pay copying and mailing costs, or
will buy it outright if you don't need it.
TIA,

You have a good student project optimising feed water flow vs
distillate purity and production rate.
Feed water supply use a pressure regulator, needle valve and flow
meter to ensure a stable water flow rate regardless of mains pressure
variations. And you can set up accurately every time. If you are
dealing with very hard water it may be advisible to use a small water
softener for the feed supply. Periodic draining of boiler to reduce
accumulated salts is advisible.
This is general for all lab water stills.
