....A while back, someone posted a link to an image taken of one of the
Shuttle reentries, but viewed above from ISS. Pat and I tried to find
this one, but so far no luck. The reason I'm interested in this one
now is because the Mars Phoenix team is claiming that the Odyssey
image of Phoenix descending on parachutes is the "first time" a
spacecraft has been imaged during a descent. There's also one of a
Soyuz reentry that Pat found, but I think the Shuttle image I'm
looking for predates that.
Any clues, kids?

From memory, the MRO guy on the news conference said it was the first time a
spacecraft had been imaged entering Mars. |

Did they really say exactly that? It seems vanishingly unlikely, given
that the DSP's have probably recorded every Shuttle and Soyuz entry of
the last 30 years or more.

....Actuallty, the PAO goon *did* drop the "from Mars" bit, and quite a
few of the news services picked it up as being the first time -period-
that such an image had been taken -anywhere-. I figured Cowing would
have jumped all over that, but he's too busy with his head up
Antarctica and his ass up Everest to have paid attention, most likely.
