For years I've been wearing Acuvue Toric lenses w/o any problems.
Recently, I re-ordered my lenses from my opthalmologistl. While he was
able to get one of the few remaining boxes of Acuvue Toric lenses for
my left eye Rx, he had to get the Acuvue Advance Astigmatic for my
right eye Rx.

I absolutely hate the Advance Astigmatic. While I was able to see the
eye chart clearly with the Toric, I was unable to see the eye chart
clearly with the Advance Astigmatic with the same Rx. My eyecare
professional suspected a defective lens, but the second lens was
equally bad. Also, at a distance of three feet, the Torics were in
focus, the Advance Astigmatics are not.

While it is true that it is not good having the Toric in the left eye
and the Astigmatic Advance in the right, there is no reason why I
shouldn't be able to read the eye chart clearly with the same
prescription as my previous right eye Toric.

I'm planning on visiting the optician/optomitrist that originally
fitted me with the Torics to see what options I have. Anyone have any
suggestions as to other brands of astigmatic (toric) soft contact
lenses that I might suggest to my optometrist for me to try? I like
replacing them every 2 weeks.

Thanks

More than likely the newer lens-type, Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism
that you are wearing in your right eye, has not been properly fit on
your eye. Did you try a pair of trial lenses from your eye doctor?
Are those the ones that you are talking about? If so, then your eye
doctor can probably make a small adjustment in the final contact
prescription and make your vision clear on both sides. Toric lens
commonly sit on the eye with a slight rotation, either clockwise or
counterclockwise, and then the final prescription needs to be adjusted
to compensate. Your eye doc needs to see you for a check-up
appointment to see how the lens is actually sitting on your cornea.

BTW, the older Acuvue Toric lenses performed dismally from an eye
doctor's perspective. The newer Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism line
of contacts are much improved.

Other brands of torics that are comparable to the older Acuvue Torics
that you like are, Biomedics Torics, Vertex Torics, Soflens 66
Torics.

I don't know about Acuvue lenses, but I know that annoyed feeling you
get when you go into a store and on that very same day when you go to
purchase an item - stock happens to be empty. Or when they discontinue
the best products and you're like: Why the hell. It's like suddenly
all the misfortunes that could possibly occur to a consumer are being
deliberately targeted at you. Sometimes I think these sellers just do
it purposely to peeve you off.
