The map in a monograph delivered today shows the town North an
unspecified distance from
Avignon on the West bank of the Rhone and South of the Eryieux in the
department of Ardeche.
Does anyone have any familiarity with the area...even if this keyboard
lacks
the diacritics to give the French words their exact orthography?

Hi Edward,

If I copy rightly (Yep, that's radio lingo -- I do have my
marine radio licence) the message I'm responding to and
another message of yours in the "dénatuer" thread, I
understand that you intend to spend some time on the canals
and rivers of France. If that's the case, I have a friend
here in the Vancouver, BC area who owns a 25 per cent
interest in one of the barges ("pénichettes" I think they
are called in French) recreational boaters use to roam the
rivers and canals of The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany,
France and maybe other places in Western Europe. The guy
goes there every year and he knows his way around the "wet"
places. Should you be interested, I can put you in touch
with him.

My e-mail : jmunier at shaw dot ca

Cheers,

J.

JM:

My interest is more terrestrial, which is not to say a nice detour on the
waterways wouldn't be a complement to the experience of the possible
excursion.
I'll get you later by messenger pigeon.

Thanks for the help.

Edward Hennessey
