Burning since 5:31 this morning........
House smells like smoke. Smoke everywhere. Winds are blowin like crazy. I
can see the orange glow outline of the tops of the mountains. With the
15x70 binoculars I can see the indians rubbing sticks together..........and
waving their blankets making smoke signals saying "Umm big bbq." :)

Wildfire starts south of Kitt Peak
Arizona Daily Star
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 05.09.2008

A wildfire started Friday in the Baboquivari Mountains southwest of Tucson,
officials said.
The Solano Fire is burning about 7 miles south of Kitt Peak and is estimated
at 130 acres, said Cliff Pearlberg, a spokesman with the Arizona State
Forester's Office.
Authorities with the Tohono O'odham Nation, the State Forestry Department
and Bureau of Land Management are coordinating the fire fighting
The fire is in steep and rugged terrain and winds in the area are gusting to
35 mph, Pearlberg said. The difficult conditions could lead to further
growth for the fire tonight and Saturday.
Three heavy air tankers, four single-engine air tankers and two helicopters
are assigned to the fire, along with five 20-person firefighter crews.

At least the Winds have died down for the night and today's winds are
not expected to anywhere near yesterdays. For the best information on Fires
in our area go to :
http://gacc.nifc.gov/swcc/predictive/intelligence/intelligence.htm
The most useful to the general public are the Morning Briefing and News &
Notes.
Luckily it's a slow moving Fire. A couple of weeks ago we had a Fire that
started ~2P.M. and was effectively out by 8P.M. that burned ~750 Acres.

Thanks for the link Ed. I've been using http://www.inciweb.org/state/3/ .
However, there is no info there on the Solano fire. The little wind we have
today is keeping the smoke to the south of where I am in Diamond Bell.

Also your photos on KOLD.com are wonderful.

I'm surprised they do not list the Solano Fire. Guess they're just
interested in N. AZ.

I knew that from prior Posts. You're South of Three Points.
