I've wondered why scientists spend time on global warming when the
whole issue boils down to political alignment. And why are they
finding cures for diseases when no one has health insurance?
Here's a man who has the right idea. Turns out that lap-dancers make
bigger tips during their fertile time of the month:
"Miller, G. F., Tybur, J., & Jordan, B. (in press; published online
Sept. 27). Ovulatory cycle effects on tip earnings by lap-dancers:
Economic evidence for human estrus? Evolution and Human Behavior."
http://www.unm.edu/~psych/faculty/lg_gmiller.html
Put a political spin on *that*.
Dangerous Bill
(I've applied to join his research team.) |

Only in America is AGW a strictly partisan political issue. But in a
brain dead TV addicted nation where half the population believe in a YEC
literal interpretation of the Bible what can you expect ?
Having said that some of the US religious right are starting to grasp
the concept of "good stewardship" of the planet. Leaving something
worthwhile for future generations to build on rather than wrecking the
environment by profligate waste for corporate greed.
In the UK it was right wing Conservative Prime Minister Margaret
Thatcher (a chemistry graduate - very rare amongst politicians) who
first put Global Warming on the map. There is broad political consensus
here. Only the extreme right and left find common cause in AGW denial.
UK has universal health care too. Treatment according to medical need. A
concept far too difficult for Merkins to grasp. In America only the
wealthy can hope to obtain adequate hospital treatment. And becoming ill
or being found to have a genetic defect will screw your chances of
health insurance.
Even fluorine chemists think it is a nice idea to be able to live on the
surface of the Earth hence the Montreal Protocol.

You could probably isolate the relevant pheromones and sell them.

Some people have a knack for choosing interesting
research subjects. I'd like to see a copy of the
grant proposal. I'll bet he writes really good
ones. |
