I just searched for Nanosolar comments and found very little save
occasional references.
I would be interested in Don Lancaster's opinions of the future of
this technology and if he thinks the promised $1 per Watt will come to
reality

A dollar per watt, of course, is totally useless.
Serious pv displacement of conventional energy will take a quarter per
watt panel cost or lower.

it would be more useful to compare by kWh of course.
A nuke costs $1 or more per kW but can deliver 24 kWh in a day. A nanosolar
PV solar panel costs the same per peak kW but will only deliver about 4 kWh
per day on average even in well located sites.
By that measure, PV solar needs to reach 16c per peak kW before it's
competitive.

The power company is generating electricity at thier coal plants for
about 3 cents a kw hr, because they are selling the stuff to their big
users at 4 cents per kw hr. They sell to us small fry at 15 cents per
kw hr. The minute you start making money on 12 or 14 cent per kw hr
PV, they'll lower their prices for a month or two until you close up
shop. Youse godda problem wid dat? |

Yes.
Now how about you address the fact that PV solar can only provide power in
any usable quantity for at best (when ideally sited) around 6 hours a day
?

So if someone could sell PV KWs during the day for 12 or 14 cents, you
dont think the power company would try to throw a stop stick in the
road in front of them? |
