Hi,
I remember once a French colleague told me he had a friend with
exactly the same name as his, and he used a word to describe this
person/phenomenon, but I just can remember.
Any hint?

I had a colleague who also had an homonyme
but he was not as found of him as was yours.
This man happened to have debts and never to
pay them, my colleague was constantly harassed
by creditors, particularly by the tax administration,
which is best avoided as long as it is possible. |

Tocayo/a works in Spanish, xará in Portugese and both "homonymous
with" and
namesake in English.
Apart from the confusion with the name of malefactors winning the
innocent holder
unmerited suspicion or mistreatment, the giving of an identical
name in a family has
its problems. Psychologically, the senior and junior division may
be argued to compromise
development of individuality of the offspring in some way, not
that this finds me equipped
with more than presumption to assert.
Practically, if the child turns out to be what could
unkindly be called in our slang "a ratbag", they are poised to do
evil things like cashing
checks on the parental account and committing other financial
fraud. After all, having
the same name and being officially identified as living, in some
situations, at the same
address makes identity theft simple. My contacts have reported
some rather
astounding transgressions along this line.

mention correctly.
If anyone does make ingress and has a report, it might be
worthwhile to hear.
