It seems that I have run into a problem. I am working on a system that
uses a laptop along with a DeLorme GPS, a verizon Cell card , and a
software package that I have wrote. Right now I'm using a Delorme
Serial Emulator for the GPS but it seems that it is conflicting with
the cell card causing it to lose power. I have tested this with
several other machines with the same outcomes. I was wondering if
there are other serial emulators that I can use? |

It is hard to tell if you are asking about hardware (serial to USB
adapters) or software. If the latter, the Franson GPSGate is worth a
try for creating and managing multiple virtual COM ports:

If it is the serial to USB adapter it might be a driver issue,
especially if it is one of the very cheap clones. I'd probably try to
identify the IC used in it and look for a driver. Another option might
be to try one of the well known/designed brands of adapters like
KeySpan. I've had good luck with the widely available Belkin adapters
too but some have not found them that way.
